Brooklyn Restaurants Near Red Lion
From Neighborhood Spots to Culinary Institutions

Along with its world-class shopping, concerts, sporting events, and countless attractions, Brooklyn is also a dining destination with abundant culinary offerings, from food trucks and casual coffee shops to specialty restaurants and fine dining.

When you stay at Red Lion Inn & Suites in Brooklyn, you can wake up to our complimentary continental breakfast, including waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, pastries, yogurt, breads, fruit, juice, coffee, and more. But after a day spent exploring the city, you may want to refuel with some local fare. Though there are countless options, we've highlighted a few of our favorites below, all of which are mere minutes from the comfortable accommodations of your room at Red Lion.

Brooklyn Restaurants:

Junior's Cheesecake:

Founded in 1950, Junior's is known as the home of New York's finest cheesecake. For decades, Junior's has been a destination not just for Brooklynites, but New Yorkers from all over the five boroughs, as well as visitors from around the world. As they say, you haven't really lived until you've had cheesecake from Junior's.

Peter Luger Steakhouse:

With roots that trace back to 1887, Peter Luger Steakhouse is an institution. Named the best steakhouse in New York for 28 years running and the winner of a Michelin star, Peter Luger Steakhouse is more than just a restaurant: it's an icon for New Yorkers and visitors alike.

Buttermilk Channel:

Named after the mile-long tidal strait between Brooklyn and Governors Island, the heart and soul of Buttermilk Channel is pure Brooklyn. A favorite neighborhood spot, Buttermilk Channel is an excellent American bistro ideal for brunch, dinner or cocktails.

Grimaldi's Pizzeria:

Brooklyn based pizzeria with over 100 years of coal fired brick-oven pizza-making traditions. Grimaldi's Pizzeria fresh ingredients, handmade mozzarella, ‘secret recipe' dough and pizza sauce make us the most award-winning pizzeria in the United States. Our pizzas and calzones are baked to perfection in our signature coal burning oven, delivering a tantalizing aroma, unique flavor and crisp crust that is just not possible from gas, convection or wood burning ovens.

Dinosaur BBQ:

Dinosaur BBQ is a regional barbecue restaurant, biker bar and blues music venue. Proving that outstanding barbecue isn't only found in the South, Dinosaur BBQ has built a huge fan base that keeps coming back for everything from fried green tomatoes and jumbo chicken wings to sliders, ribs and pulled pork.

Freek's Mill:

Michelin Guide restaurant that takes inspiration from Gowanus historic grist mills. Freek's Mill's daily mission is to make sure that our food, our drink, our service, and the décor of Freek's Mill is becoming of a top-tier neighborhood restaurant that can exist anywhere in the world. So simple a concept is not uncommon. However these goals seem to be lost, or at least blurred, more often than not.

Olmsted:

Olmsted is a neighborhood restaurant in the heart of Prospect Heights from chef-owner Greg Baxtrom and farmer-owner Ian Rothman. We offer a seasonal, ingredient-driven menu, some of which comes straight from our backyard garden (yes, you're welcome to sit there for a drink and a bite). We built the entire 50-seat restaurant with a living wall and lush garden ourselves, and named it after Frederick Law Olmsted, the famed architect behind nearby Prospect Park.
