California Trail Historical Interpretive Center

Widely considered one of the most enlightening museums dedicated to the frontier era, the California Trail Historical Interpretive Center  harks back to the years between 1841 and 1869, capturing the great migration out west in the form of settler stories. The California Trail Interpretation Center is home of a wide variety of exhibits and activities to enjoy, from art to education and spanning different events, programs and exhibits being displayed throughout the year. 

Northeastern Nevada Museum

The Northeastern Nevada Museum, one of the gems of the area, features local and natural history in abundance, putting research and rotating art exhibits at the forefront. Its incredible research facilities supplement the collection and exhibitions, and the museum features exhibits on western art, including a world-class collection of Will James original art and books, an Ansel Adams portfolio, 200 animals from around the world, a huge gun collection, and more to come. 

Western Folklife Center

The Western Folklife Center is one of the most unique attractions not only in Elko, but in the western United States. Since 1980, this museum has recreated and explored the everyday traditions of rural communities of the past and present. With exhibitions showcasing the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and other regional staples, the Folklife Center regularly puts on exhibits, performances, workshops, youth education programs and serves as a resource for national public radio and television.
