The Stars and Stripes Revolutionary Road During the American Revolution individual military units made their own flags and created their own identity. From 1775-1781 “The Revolutionary Road” was covered with a wide variety of flag designs even when given the official flag description on June 14, 1777, Flag Day. On this journey you will follow the Stars and Stripes trail from its beginning at the Concord Bridge, to the flag we have today.Art was, born in Massachusetts, not far from his Revolutionary War Patriot Ancestors home in Bedford, Massachusetts. Like his Patriot Ancestor, Art proudly served in the military receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1975. He went on to become a science teacher spending most of his time in the Spokane, Washington, Public Schools. After discovering his Revolutionary War roots, Art turned from science to history and now presents colonial period presentations locally in Olympia, Washington.
