Skip Rock is headed by the husband & wife team of Ryan & Julie Hembree, Snohomish, WA and licensed in 2009.
Before opening the distillery Ryan spent 10 years working in economic development for the agriculture industry. This experience gave him great personal contacts with the farmers that he now buys from. He studied wine making for two years at Washington State University earning an Enology Certificate.
He is on the Board of Advisors to the American Distilling Institute (ADI), consultant to the first craft distillery in China and the first large scale single malt distillery there as well. He is recruited by other distilleries to assist with their growth plans and feasibility studies, as well as, hands on distilling courses that are taught at Skip Rock. ADI recently enlisted him as Editor for their new book on Liqueurs.
