A performance poet out of Omaha, Ne, I enjoy the challenge of getting people interested in poetry who previously thought there was no way they could like it. Omaha is a city full of exciting poets of all ages. I have the joy of coaching 3 high school slam poetry teams for the Nebraska Writers' Collective.
An above knee amputee due to a car accident, severe burn survivor and former foster child, much of my poetry is about self acceptance, body and mental. I started writing and performing poetry in 2012, when my medical van driver did a poem of his for me, after my amputation. He suggested it as an outlet for me, took me to hear some poets in Omaha and I haven't stopped. I continue to bring the healing power of writing and performing poetry to others as it was brought to me, through writing groups.
